A CENTURY OF YEARS OF THE ROOSTER: VIGNETTES OF A CHANGING CHINA
Traditionally, people are warned to expect bad luck in their own year of the Chinese zodiac, so those born in the year of the rooster should beware in 2017. This lecture will trace the life of an imaginary character born in the year of the rooster 1909, looking at how China changed in each year of the rooster during her lifetime, and how these changes would affect her. Dr Isabella Jackson is Assistant Professor in Chinese History in the Department of History and the Trinity Centre for Asian Studies at Trinity College Dublin.
